About the Role
We're seeking a Technical Designer to bridge the gap between creative concepts and manufacturing reality. You'll work with our product and engineering teams to translate designs into detailed technical specifications, ensuring every component is manufacturable, functional, and meets our quality standards. This is a hands-on role where your CAD expertise and manufacturing knowledge directly impact how our products come to life.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino, CATIA, Siemens NX, or Creo), ensuring accuracy and adherence to technical standards
- Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles to specifications, collaborating with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are producible within cost and quality constraints
- Develop comprehensive technical documentation including assembly drawings, BOM (Bill of Materials), and manufacturing notes that production teams can execute without ambiguity
- Analyze design feasibility and manufacturability early in the development process, identifying potential issues and recommending solutions to prevent costly revisions
- Collaborate with product designers, engineers, and manufacturers to refine designs based on feedback and real-world constraints
- Leverage AI-assisted CAD workflows to accelerate design iterations and improve efficiency where applicable
Requirements
- Proficiency in at least one major CAD platform (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino, CATIA, Siemens NX, or Creo)
- 3-5 years of technical design or CAD drafting experience in a manufacturing or product development environment
- Strong understanding of GD&T, manufacturing processes (injection molding, machining, sheet metal, etc.), and how design decisions impact production
- Ability to read, interpret, and create technical drawings and specifications that meet industry standards
- Portfolio demonstrating previous technical design work, including drawings, models, and documentation
- Excellent attention to detail with a methodical approach to problem-solving
- Nice to have: Experience with AI-assisted CAD tools or parametric design workflows
- Nice to have: Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems or design collaboration platforms
