Job Description

The Business Development Manager for Utilities will be responsible for driving the growth of the company by identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities in the electrical metering industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough market analysis to identify new opportunities, industry trends, and competitive landscape in the electrical metering space.

Lead Generation: Identify and pursue potential clients and business opportunities within the utility sector, commercial, and industrial customers.

Sales & Business Development: Develop and implement sales strategies and business development plans to achieve revenue targets and grow the market share for the company’s electrical meter products.

Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including distributors, contractors, and end-users. Act as the main point of contact for all business development-related inquiries.

Product Promotion: Promote the company’s portfolio of electrical meters and smart metering solutions, highlighting their advantages and competitive benefits.

Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work closely with engineering, marketing, and production teams to ensure the product offering meets market needs and customer expectations.

Tender and Bid Management: Prepare and submit competitive bids and proposals in response to RFPs (Requests for Proposals) and RFQs (Requests for Quotations) from potential clients.

Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations on pricing, contracts, and terms with potential clients to secure favorable deals.

Reporting & Performance Monitoring: Prepare regular reports on sales activity, pipeline development, and performance metrics. Ensure continuous improvement through the analysis of data and feedback.

Industry Networking: Attend relevant industry events, trade shows, and exhibitions to represent the company and stay updated on market developments.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Business, or related field. MBA is a plus.

Experience:

5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or product management in the electrical metering or energy solutions industry.

Proven track record of successfully growing business in a B2B environment.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of electrical meters, smart metering technologies, and utility systems.
  • Ability to explain technical products and services to non-technical stakeholders.

Sales Skills:

  • Strong sales acumen, with the ability to generate leads, close deals, and manage a sales pipeline.
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.

Communication:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present technical information clearly and persuasively.

Relationship-Building:

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners.
  • Comfortable interacting with C-level executives and decision-makers.

Problem-Solving & Analytical Thinking:

  • Ability to assess client needs and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze data and trends to make informed business decisions.

Travel: Willingness to travel domestically as required.
